WTRHA Stampede Show
Well, our riders gave it a good go over the weekend - Bruce and Barb's nice mare, Maggie, were 3rd in the Open on Friday, Pam and Dusty were 4th in the PT Rookie, June and Gracie were 5th in the Novice Rider, Eileen was 5th in the Novice Horse NP L2 on Dave, and Bruce was 5th on Maggie in the Novice Open...everyone had a good time, and looking forward to the Jacspin Derby and Show, in Graham in May!Expecting #2!
Gallos Hancock, a nice prospect we purchased last Summer to speculate on, is now a broodmare - seems she was supposed to be open, even tho the previous owner had tried breeding her, and the ultrasound came up saying 'empty'...well, she most certainly isn't, so she is now out to pasture with Carly! Expecting a foal about the same time as Carly, mid-April, and the sire is a nice dunskin son of Little Ruff Peppy! Should be interesting to see what we get from that! The mare will be rebred to Colonels Smoken Chex, for 2013!! This mare is available as a 3 in 1 package for $6500.00, until she foals, then we will decide if we will keep the foal, and offer the mare as a 2 in 1...Expecting...!
Talk About Flash will be having a baby sometime mid-April, by the 2010 NRHA Futurity Champion, Spooks Gotta Whiz!! Looking forward to this one - according to Michell Kimball, his owner, he has been genetically tested, and will only produce a bay or buckskin foal...mare is buckskin, so I'm leaning that way!! Carly will be rebred to the great Gunner son, Gunners Special Nite, 2010 USEF Horse of the Year!!.

MEET 'GUNFLASH'!!
Shelly's good mare, Talk About Flash, had a beautiful filly by Colonels Lil Gun, on 4/13/11. We are really pleased with her, and looking forward to training and showing this pretty girl when the time comes! Gunflash is an NRHA Sire and Dam foal, and will be nominated to the NRHA Futurity/Derby program, and the NRBC. Talk About Flash is being bred back to SPOOKS GOTTA WHIZ, 2010 NRHA Futurity CH, this year - another Sire/Dam baby!! This foal will be buckskin or bay, due to the color genetics of sire and dam - hoping for a lot of flash on that one!!

SUGS STORMIN OKIE - SOLD!!
SOLD!! This nice gray gelding is well balanced, good boned, good feet, and sound. He has a unique color - born a palomino, he has turned grey this year, with nice dappling throughout. He is very correct in his conformation, has a good wither and back, and a nice balanced neck, with a clean throatlatch - his neck sets into his shoulder nicely as well. He has had a year of training with Bruce Liggett, an NRHA World CH. Stormy is not going to make an NRHA Futurity horse, but has enough training and talent to go on in about any discipline you choose. He has been ridden out around cattle, trail-ridden thru rocks, boulders, and steep areas, as well as thru brush, etc. He has been ridden in a bridle, has great ground manners, stands well for the farrier, loads/unloads easily in a trailer, etc. He has no blemishes, except for an old scar on the outside of his left front cannon bone - does not bother him. SOLD!! THANK YOU, GINGER P. - Stormy will be going to Alabama!!

She will also make an excellent broodmare prospect - the Rooster mares are much sought after - we have Sable priced for $8500...call or email for more info, or to come try her! She is sound, no blemishes, no vices, up to date on shoeing, vaccinations, and deworming.

A Little Fun On The Track!!
Had to post a few pix of Michelle Leonard lessoning on the track - riding her new reining saddle for the first time! This saddle was custom fit for her mare, and for Michelle - she loves it, and looks like it's going to suit them both just great! Michelle felt the mare was more free in her movements, and acted like she was more comfortable. Can't wait to see her show in it!! This doesn't look too bad for a gal that had knee surgery a few months ago, and has not schooled or lessoned in that long! Pretty nice for these two 'rusty' gals!!

Work on the barn and indoor is almost complete - things have been slowed down quite a bit due to all the rain we've had, but we can see the end of the construction soon! The new wash bays are plumbed and ready, the bathroom is completed - plumbed and ready for the water to be connected - stalls fronts are complete, waiting for doors to be hung, so this next week should be productive! The arena should be screened soon, and our viewing areas are in production, and progress is being made on the wood fencing in the indoor...just takes some time to get all of it done! All materials are purchased for the new hay barn - we expect that to go up after the completion of the barn/indoor....

In the Novice Horse NP class, Eileen Crane showed her good mare, Sheza Fancy Rooster, to a 2nd place finish. Kary placed 4th on Sprezzatura, and Shelly placed 5th on Talk About Flash.

A great facility - A/C in the arena, and the horses stayed comfortable with Big Ass Fans overhead and the misters in the barn really helped with all the heat! Last Thursday was 115 degrees in Andrews, but not quite that high over the weekend...this is a very nice facility, and we look forward to showing there again!

We missed having Kary Key and her mom, Pat Fletcher, at this show! Kary and Pat were planning to drive over to Lubbock early on Saturday morning - Kary was hit with a Tornado in the big storm that came in Friday evening, and had major damage to her place! Luckily, no one was hurt, and all the animals were fine, as well as trucks and trailers, etc. Lots of twisted trees - Kary and Pat ended up staying home to assess damage and do what they could to clean up...we look forward to having them with us at the WTRHA show in Andrews!
Our heartfelt thanks go to Eric and Michelle Leonard - we had storm damage as well, and, because we were in Lubbock when it all hit, they came to the barn to help do what they could to take pix, assess damage, and help clear the debris and batten down what they could!!

We will soon be giving the facility a 'face-lift', so to speak! The contractor will be starting in about a week, with new ground in the indoor - when finished, the indoor will have new ground, wood fencing, screens, and a new viewing area. They will add a new footer to the round pen, and new lighting. While at that project, the barn will be renovated, adding more stalls, indoor wash bays (with hot water), a half bath, vet stocks, a new tack room for Bruce, and a shop for Gramps, as well as new lighting, etc.
A new hay barn is also slated, but will be added after the main projects...and, possibly, a new carport...Bruce will also have a new H20 Pro to keep the dirt in top condition!
Check in to the News in the coming weeks - we'll be posting pix as the work progresses!

REGIONAL FINALS RESULTS - TULSA, OK: A big congratulations to Eileen Crane! Eileen showed her good gelding, Hang It To Em, in the Affiliate Rookie Finals, and did just that - 'hung it to em' for the win in both the Rookie Affiliate Finals and the Prime Time!
Eileen had a very emotional ride - as 'Louie' started and finished almost every maneuver in the plus column, she knew this was their best performance together so far! After completing her run, Eileen got to hear those words we all would like to hear when we know we've put a good run together....'THE SCORE......220!! And, last, but certainly not least, we need to give Kary Key a big 'honorable mention' here - Kary and her good boy, 'Sprezzatura', better known as 'Ice', would be getting a big congrats here for 2nd place in the Ltd NP Affiliate class, if not for that 'extra' turn-around at the end of the run! Kary and Ice are nothing if not exciting to watch, always giving it their best efforts - we have learned to expect nothing less!!

Kary Key placed her good horse, Iceman, 2nd in the Ltd. Open - unfortunately, an extra turnaround kept her out of it in the NP...she'll be back!!
Smart Palolena placed 3rd in the Intermediate Open, 4th in the Open - this nice horse is owned by Robin Fowler.
In the Rookie class: Eileen Crane placed 2nd on her good horse, Hang It To Em (Louie)! Also placing in the class was Pam and her good boy, I'm Not Talking Trash (Tadpole) - Good Job, girls!!
Talk About Flash and Shelly finished 4th in the Nov Non-Pro, 5th in the LTD NP, and 4th in the AQHA Amateur.
Glorys Last Squall placed 3rd in the Novice Horse Open, shown by Bruce - not bad, considering that the curb strap broke in the middle of the run! Nothing seems to bother this guy - still leading the SWRHA standings in Novice Open...
Congrats to all for a nice weekend - Look for Bruce showing I'm Not Talking Trash at the APHA World Show in a few weeks - Pam has Tadpole and Bruce entered in Breeding Stock Reining!

We are pleased to welcome Katja Vanhatalo, of Finland - Katja is here visiting us for the next few weeks, riding with Bruce and getting some new ideas that she might use in her training program back home! Katja is a true delight to have around, very funny, and we will be sad to see her leave for home when the time comes! She is a good hand with the horses, and we would love to have her stay longer!.

SOLD! THANK YOU FOR THE ENORMOUS RESPONSE TO THE OFFERING OF THIS NICE MARE! NOW OWNED BY STEVE & CARRIE HEINE! We have this pretty daughter of Nu Chex To Cash for sale now - $15,000.00. She is out of an own daughter of Mr. Gun Smoke. Nugget is UTD on all deworming/vaccinations, shoeing, etc. She has no vices that we know of. She is sound, correct, and good minded, very athletic, and a quick learner. This nice mare should be an excellent investment as a show/broodmare - has had two regular registry APHA fillies, (last one foaled in 2005). Started under saddle, she was never finished, due to owner's circumstances. She has been in training for approximately a month, to market for sale. With this mare's stellar pedigree, she will be priced much higher once she is ready to show. She will be an excellent investment now that the Nu Chex To Cash progeny seem to be following the same track as the Hollywood Jac dynasty!
